Casey, Tim, and Aaron were in the bottom three. I would be OK with any of them going home. My wife is a fan of “Turban” and hopes it is Aaron. Maybe it is the age, but something about him creeps her out. I wouldn’t be surprised if in thirty years we see him on the news as a serial killer, similar to the Dating Game Serial Killer.

The performances were, meh.  The Black Eyed Peas sound terrible live. They really need to learn this. The rest of the performances were just OK. My favorite part of the night was Wanda Sykes explaining how Simon plays with his nipples when he is bored. I guess she is a fan of TMZ.

Tim Urban went home, but they didn’t give him a chance to sing at the end. Thank you for going long Ryan Seacrest!

Casey James
Fletwood Mac – Don’t Stop
It is OK, But reminds me of a superbowl halftime performance. Generic and forgettable. I have never really been a fan of his and tonights performance reinforced my opinion.

Lee DeWyze
The Boxer – Simon and Garfunkle
Awesome. I loved his performance. I felt it, I was caught up in it and I think he has areal shot. Simon was right on when he told Lee he had his moment. Since that night he has been incredible.

Tim Urban
THe Goo Goo Dolls – Better Days
I have never been a fan. I do not care for his voice and feel like he has made it this far on looks and teenie bopper votes, but like Zac efron, he will fade away.

Aaron Kelly
R. Kelly – I believe I can fly
I just don’t feel it. I kept waiting for bugs bunny to pop up around his feet with a basketball. This performance would have gotten him laid at his high school dance, but is not Main Stream Radio quality. I would have turned it off in 10 seconds too.

Siobhan Magnus
Whitney Houston – When You Believe
Another Disney song? Where are the animated frogs? She is no Mariah or Whitney. She is descent singer, But please don’t let her talk any more.

Michael Lynch
Nickleback – Hero
It was good. I liked it better than most of the performances up to now. I am not usually a fan of his, but this was a good performance, for him.

Crystal Bowersox
The Impressions – People Get Ready
I teared up. I have loved her since the auditions. She is my favorite to win and I look forward to her success.

I created this video in 1999 with a Sony VCR and a Sony CCD-FX700 video camera. I am converting the Hi8 to Digital and this is the first one. I have to record the sound using my original video camera as it will not play the video. I bought a different camera off Ebay that will play the video, but cannot play the sound. So I record the video and then rewind the tape, put it in the other camera and then record the sound.

I had a hard drive get reformatted. I say “got” reformatted because I am still not real sure what happened. It was February 28th 2010 I was sitting in my living room watching Jimmy Johnson chase Jeff Gordon in the Shelby American at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It was also the last day of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. I was curious how the U.S. Men’s Hockey team was doing and grabbed my laptop to check. I launched Google Chrome, I was evaluating it for a possible switch and I got page cannot be displayed message. The wireless was not seeing any networks. No big deal, I have had this happen a couple of times in the past when coming out of hibernation.

As the machine was shutting down I got up, went to the bathroom and headed into the kitchen for a drink. When I came back into the room and looked at the screen I felt woozy and threw up a little in the back of my throat. HP recovery was copying files. I knew the first thing it does is format the drive. Sure enough it had reformatted my drive. On top of that I was getting errors about corrupt files on the recovery.

Twas the night before Christmas when all through the maps,
Not an aimbot was stirring, not even evil hack.

The noobs were low crawling evading with care,
In hopes that SF soon would be theirs.

The admins were restless, all reading the board,
With nothing but greif as their only reward.

OpFor ”Using Tactics”, and noobs on my team,
quick play on RECON seemed a far away dream.

When out on TS there arose such a noise,
I switched from my game to say “what’s up” to my boys!

Alt-TAB in windows, I typed in a flash,
switched to TS and heard “Weapons Cache!”

The moon and the clouds were all bright in the sky,
But the server was empty, no one to watch die.

When what to my wandering eyes should appear,
But a gaggle of Betas and all of their gear.

With updated drivers so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment, this would be sick!

More rapid than eagles their onslaught became,
They taunted in global and called us by name:

First, InSUW! Then, Wapu! Then, Mickey and Slider!
Then Cramski! and Kchaz, Geron and Hawkrdr!

To the top of the stairs! To the end of the hall!
Now, die away, die away! Die away all!

As dry leaves before the rotor wash fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,

So up to the rooftop, the Betas they flew,
With a full combat load , and 203’s too!

And then in the distance, I heard them reload,
my heart leapt at this chance, they had broken the code.

As I drew my frag nade and pulled it’s loud pin,
I squatted down low behind the trash bin.

They all were reloading at the very same time,
This was my chance, this moment was mine!

A feeling of joy stirred deep in my chest,
Beta’s are good, but could I pass this test?

I rounded the corner, I let my nade fly,
priming it first to be sure they all died!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
He was sure there was something that I didn’t know.

The thump of the nade and the red on my screen,
I quickly turned right and shot the one who was unseen.

He was hidden there waiting beside the guard shack,
I welled up with joy as I saw him fall back.

I waited a tick, waited for “Mission Complete”,
But at that very moment a nade fell at my feet.

press A to move left, thumb on space bar to jump,
I bunny hopped that nade in cheesy triumph.

I spoke not a word, but went straight to my work,
I filled him with lead he flew back with a jerk.

And laying my finger upon the six key,
I reported my position — and yelled HOOAH with glee!

Mission Complete was the next thing I heard,
The Beta’s were stunned with what had just occurred.

I thought they’d be angry, I thought they’d be glum
But their love of this game, makes even losing great fun!

A few hours later as it came to an end
I was pleased with the play, but more my new friends.

I heard them exclaim, as they logged off for the night:
Hooah to all,
AND TO ALL, A GOOD NIGHT!

MWSnap263 2009-05-11, 21_41_30 We are not the world’s policemen. Where in the Constitution does it say that we should go to other countries and solve their problems? That is not our government’s responsibility. Their responsibility is to the people that live here, in our country. I have been asked “How do we distinguish the terrorist in the airport from the non-terrorist?” We start by having highly trained people at the airport to look for them. We spend millions to train our soldiers and then send them to other countries to look for the bad guys while leaving that job to minimum wage high school drop outs here. That doesn’t make sense. We have billion dollar aircraft dropping million dollar bombs on slums with a few starving AK-47 toting religious fanatics while at the same time reducing the amount of money we spend on closing the border that thousands of people walk across illegally every day. That makes about as much sense as locking the doors on a convertible with the top down.

We need to remember, it is not an all or nothing situation. Bringing our troops back here, closing our overseas bases and making countries defend themselves rather than live under the umbrella of perceived safety that the citizens of the United States provide with our money and our lives, is not isolationist. Defending our borders first does not mean stopping trade. This isn’t about trade. This is about taking care of our own first. We are the only country in the world that does not do that. We need to let Israel fight her own battles. Who really cares if India and Pakistan blow themselves up over a little piece of dirt named after a sweater? North and South Korea are big boys now. If they want to slug it out, let their neighbors deal with it. We have enough problems of our own. If we stop going places where we are not wanted, then we will stop pissing people off.

I don’t believe all these people all over the world are born with hatred towards us. I contend their hatred comes from 50 years of us poking them in the eye with a stick. It comes from 50 years of intolerance for their beliefs and the genuine fear that they have of what we believe. Americans, while being some of the most caring and giving people in the entire world are also some of the most arrogant, cocky and intolerant. And though many refuse to admit it, our generosity comes with a price. We think, and our foreign policy throughout the world has reinforced our belief, that the rest of the world would be better off if they were more like us. We don’t see the hypocrisy in trying to tell everyone else how great freedom and democracy is then spend billions of dollars a year locking people up in prison for smoking or shooting up a drug that harms no one but themselves.

We forget how long the memory is in the rest of the world, especially the Islamic world. We don’t understand that it takes a lot longer to build trust back up after it has been broken. At one point or another during the life of a Middle Eastern man turning 60 years old today, we have been both a backer of his country and the enemy of his country. Iran this decade, Iraq last decade, Pakistan now, India before, they have been living with our inconsistent foreign policy that pits neighbor against neighbor in bloody wars and then has us switch sides when it looks like it will benefit us more. We don’t understand that they see us the same way that we see them. We say we can’t deal with Islamic radicals because all they really want is to take over the world, bring down our country, and turn us all into Muslims. They see the same thing in us. We want to tear down their society and change their government and their beliefs into the ones we hold dear. We don’t stay in our country minding our own business. We didn’t go into Rwanda just to give food to starving people. We went there giving them food with the plan of changing their government. We didn’t go into Iraq to protect American citizens, we went in to protect American interests, interests that are not in line with the rest of the region or the average citizen of America.

We need to remember that not everyone in the world is like we are. And it is not our place, responsibility, or right to change them.

subway-eatfresh Karma is something that I have given some thought to in the past, but the word is so cliché. I have preferred to think the universe is in balance and that events in our life will balance out. However, After the other day I am beginning to think karma might exist.

So, I am at work on Tuesday and my co-worker’s wife had his car and he was wondering what I was doing for lunch. I told him Subway and he gave me $20 to pick him up a sandwich. I drove to the Subway store and got his sandwich and mine. I pay separately and just stuck the change from his $6.52 sandwich in my pocket. I paid for mine and put the change in my other pocket.

I got back in my van and drove back to work. I went into his office, gave him the sandwich and pulled out his change. There was $3.48. I only got change for $10. I then drove back to the store and told the clerk that I think I only got change for a $10. He gave me a $10 with no problem. I thanked him and left the store.

On my out the store I looked down on the ground and there was a folded up $10 bill. I picked it up and took the clerk his $10 back and told him I had found one on the ground and couldn’t be sure if it was mine or not. He just looked stunned and I left.

The odd thing was that the $10 Dollar bill on the ground was folded and crumpled. I would have noticed that if I had gotten it as change.

I felt good about it and went on with the rest of my day. That night I went to my Mom’s house and finished putting some of her furniture together. It was hot and the we decided to get the girls some ice cream on the way back. We stopped at the McDonalds drive thru and ordered $11 worth of McFlurries and Dots.

When we got to the window, my wife paid with a $20 and the lady gave us $19 in change and a guy tried to give us 2 Ice Cream cones. We told him that we didn’t order any cones and that we had gotten too much change. The lady said, "Oh, they must have pulled out without paying. You paid for their cones so I will comp yours" The car in front of us at the other window was trying to pay at the wrong window. We asked if she was sure and she said "yea" I already cleared it.

So, we got $10 worth of free Ice cream. I am not sure if that was karma, but if I had to give an example of it, I would use this story.
